Independent Self-Study Professional Development »

Time spent studying resources checked out from the CTSP Center can be logged and used for professional development credit.

Steps:

  1. Contact us at the center to check out a book, video, curriculum guide, etc. or visit our website to view instructional modules, FAQs, or external helpful links.
  2. Peruse the resource and write a brief summary of what you have learned. Include titles of the resource, date, publisher, URL etc.
  3. Download the CPE Requirements form from SBEC - http://www.sbec.state.tx.us/SBECOnline/certinfo/classteach.pdf.
  4. Review rules regarding independent self-study - not to exceed 20% of the required clock hours (30 hours out of a total 150 hrs. over five years), which may include self-study of relevant professional materials (books, journals, periodicals, video/audio tapes, computer software, and on-line information) or authoring a published work.
  5. Use the third page of the form to record date, hours spent in self-study, type of resource for any of the CTSP materials.
  6. Create and maintain an independent self-study credit folder.
  7. File the CPE Requirements form as the first page followed by resource summaries.
