What are some types of EBD?

Although some types of EBD do not fall under the emotional disturbance definition in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), there are several types of EBD. They are generally categorized as externalizing disorders (obvious, easy to see behaviors like fighting) and internalizing disorders (less obvious, more difficult to see behaviors like anxiety). Types of EBD include conduct disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, reactive attachment disorder, depression, separation anxiety, and social phobia. More information and resources are provided in the Teacher Toolbox.
